Shop name: Foxfire Wax & Bath Co.
Location: Twisp, Washington
Known for: Handmade soaps and wax products
Foxfire's Exfoliating Sea Salt Soap is a moderately-scented bar of soap with exfoliating salt bits and a little bit of shimmer. The listing says that sea salt soap bars are very hard so they last longer than regular bars of soap; most importantly it exfoliates as you use it. I got mine in Icy Peppermint Bark, which is described as cool peppermint hits you first of course, then a bit of vanilla, white chocolate and just the slightest hint of a thin milk chocolate layer. I think it smells good, definitely like peppermint and chocolate, though I never get much more depth out of scented body products. I got it during a Polish Pickup pre-sale in November 2019, and this scent was exclusive to that ordering period. It looks like BaronessX is currently stocking Foxfire soaps and products in other scents in the US.
12/4/2020 Update: The owner of BaronessX also owns Foxfire, which makes tons of sense! I learned this from a Facebook ad post where they mentioned it.
It's a 4.5 oz bar of soap for $6.25, which seems reasonable for a handmade soap. The texture is surprisingly smooth, considering there are tons of salt granules throughout, and I don't feel much scrubbing action from this at all. The scent is noticeable but doesn't linger, and it smells nice but not revolutionary. Unfortunately, the scent is the only quality that separates this from being a regular soap, since the exfoliation is minimal if at all. It does lather well and cleans without any other issues.
Thoughts
It has been a (long) minute, but I am back on the blogging scene again!
I have used about 80% of this soap so far, and it unfortunately has not wowed me. I bought this at a time that I was pretending to not be sensitive to coconut, so I have mostly used this on my feet to avoid irritation anywhere else. If it wasn't already obvious, I don't think this has done anything to scrub my feet, though it did a fine job of basic cleaning.
It's a very pretty soap, but I ultimately don't think it lives up to its main claim. I wouldn't buy it again because of my ingredient sensitivity, and I can't recommend it for the exfoliating claims. I won't even include all of the other info the listing mentions, such as suggesting that salt soap pulls toxins from the body. I will say that this claim makes no sense. You should look up the idea of true 'detox', because the only way your body detoxes is through the liver, and that does not apply here. I'm not mad that I tried this, because it wasn't too expensive in the long run, but I won't be branching out with fancy soaps again. I have a few more to use up and will stick to my tried-and-true stuff after that!

| This is the front of the soap, which is very attractive. |
