[Review] Cuter Cuticles' Barrier Butter in 'Bride and Seek'

  • Shop name: Cuter Cuticles
  • Location:  Oshawa, Ontario, Canada
  • Known for: Cuticle care products in fun, mostly sweet scents

Barrier Butter is a deep moisturizing balm for cuticles and nails. It claims to be:
A protective mixture of whipped butters and oils that will coat and moisturize your hands.  Whether you use it just around your cuticles, or all over your hands, the skin will be shielded against damage while the good oils nourish. Natural beeswax seals in – LOCKS IN – what the moisturizing oils are doing for your skin. Use it several times a day to relieve stinging and dryness, or slather up before bed and let it do its work overnight. It’s up to you and a little goes a long way.
I got mine in the scent 'Bride and Seek', which is described as velvety smooth wedding cake scent. This scent was exclusive to Polish Pickup during the October 2019 "Urban Legends" theme. I had heard about Barrier Butter for years here and there but had never tried it. When I saw that it was offered in a scent I liked during my first PPU, I jumped on it!

Mine is in the 20 mL size, but the shop also sells 30 mL jars. A variety of scents (including custom requests) are available worldwide from the Cuter Cuticles shop as well as at Girly Bits and the occasional pre-order exclusive from PPU. At the time of writing, the main shop is on break but does plan to reopen later. The texture is thick, like petroleum jelly without the oily feel (photo below). The scent is noticeable but not overwhelming.

Thoughts

I have used Barrier Butter almost nightly for months, and I love it. You can see that I'm almost done with this jar! I put it on my cuticles and fingertips before sleep, because it can be messy to touch things if you don't wait for it to sink in. I often find that there is still some product left after sleeping all night, though the scent has faded. This particular scent was inspired by the tale of a bride who hides before her wedding and is never found, which I think is a fun take on the theme of urban legends. It does really smell just like fluffy wedding cake! It lasts a long time, smells good, and has noticeably helped my skin. The tips of my fingers used to peel from washing my hands so much, but that doesn't happen now since I've been using this. I'm a big fan and will continue to purchase - I already have a backup jar ready. I think Barrier Butter is great.

This is also about how much I would use, by the way.
